The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) is an entry-level certification offered by Microsoft. The credential serves as an overview for students or people new to the technology field,, providing a solid foundation for their new careers. The MTA credential validates fundamental technology knowledge and provides students with an easy, inexpensive way to explore IT and development career options. For people who are not currently employed in the technology field, this credential will enhance resumes or help distinguish credentials when applying for college or internship applications. The MTA certification not only serves as a valuable entry-level credential, it is also a stepping stone to other more advanced Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).
The MTA is only available through educational institutions. Students can choose from IT certifications, development certifications and a database certification. More information on these certifications can be found at
